Rules


1. That the society be called the “Cockermouth and District Agricultural Society Ltd”.

2. That the Show be open to all comers except where otherwise stated.

3. Entry fees to be £3.00 each, except where otherwise stated.

4. All animals intended for competition to be on Show Ground at 9am and not to leave before the
presentation of prizes.

5. Any Exhibitor or his representative disobeying an order of the Stewards will be disqualified.

6. All animals must have been the bona-fida property of the Exhibitor for Two Calendar Months
preceding the day of the Show.

7. In respect of any Cow or Heifer shown as in Calf, the Steward may, at his discretion, order a veterinary
inspection.

8. The decision of the judges as to Premiums awarded to stock shall be final with regards to all points
of merit.

9. All protests to be made in writing to the Secretary three days from the day of the show, any person
protesting to make a deposit of £20, each deposit to be forfeited to the Society should the Committee
consider the protest not to be sustained. All disputes to be settled by the Committee, whose decision
shall be final and binding.

10. All entries to be made in writing to the Secretary not later than Saturday 29th July 2012. Entrance
money to be paid with entry.

11. No animal to be entered for more than one Premium - Special Prizes excepted. (not applicable to
the horse section.)

12. All Prize-winning Animals must be Paraded when requested. Otherwise Prize-Money will be
forfeited.

13. Any Exhibitor failing to comply with the above conditions to forfeit any prizes won.

14. Admission to Show £7.00 (Pensioners and Children £5.00) Family Ticket (£20 2 adults+2
children).

15. All Trade Stands erected on the Show Field for the sale of goods will be charged in accordance with
space required. Ensure all activities comply with legislation.

16. All trophies to be returned to the Secretary not later than Show Day.

17. Points to count for Championship purposes will only be given when there are 2 or more exhibitors
shown in the breed class.

18. No Raffles, Sweeps, Stakes or other drawing permitted on the Show Field except within the written
permission of the committee.

19. Should any dispute arise, the decision of the Committee shall be final and without appeal, and the
Committee has the right to refuse any entry which they consider contrary to the rules.
20. We respectfully point out that we advise exhibitors to insure there own stock against Public
liability.

21. The Committee using their discretion may refuse or remove any competitor or member of the public
from the show field.
N.B. Members are respectfully requested to pay in their subscriptions to the Committee, Treasurer, or Secretary and
each member shall be admitted to the Show by Ticket, which will be given on payment of subscriptions.

Class 158 The BSPS Heritage Mountain & Moorland Open First Ridden Mixed Breeds. Pony,
Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cm. Riders not to have
attained their 12th birthday before 1st January 2012
Class 159 The BSPS Heritage Mountain & Moorland Open Ridden Mixed Breeds. Registered
Pure Bred Ponies, 4 years old and over. Riders any age.
If 20 or more Entries this class will be split. The first prize winner from class 159 will
qualify for the BSPS “David Manning Champion of Champions.
Class 160 Best Show Pony, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cm. Riders
not to have attained their 13th birthday before 1st January 2012
Class 161 Best Show Pony, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 128cm and not
138cm. Riders not to have attained their 15th birthday before 1st January 2012
Class 162 Best Show Pony, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 138cm and not
148cm. Riders not to have attained their 17th birthday before 1st January 2012
Class 163 Pony, not exceeding 148cm to be ridden by a child 16 years or under on show day and
residing within a 15 mile radius of the show field.

COMPETITORS PLEASE NOTE: THIS SHOW IS AFFILIATED TO THE BRITISH SHOW
PONY SOCIETY (BSPS) AND ALL PERSONS ENTERING, COMPETING, SHOWING OR
OTHERWISE TAKING PART IN BSPS CLASSES, WHETHER OR NOT MEMBERS OF THE
BSPS ARE SUBJECT TO THE CONSTITUTION AND RULES OF THE BSPS INCLUDING
DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES, AND SHALL BE DEEMED TO HAVE CONSENTED TO
THE JURISDICTION OF THE BSPS

Note 1st and 2nd prize winners from classes 160-162 and 1st, 2nd & 3rd prize winners from class
157 – 158 and 1st -4th prize winners from class 159 will qualify for the 2012 BSPS Championship
Show provided the pony is registered in accordance with Rule 23/28 of the BSPS 2012 Rule book, and
ridden by a BSPS Member.

THE BSPS CLASSIC SECURITY (UK) LTD CHALLENGE
All Shows that are affiliated to the BSPS are qualifiers for THE BSPS CHALLENGE, ponies qualify
as follows:
CLASSES: LEADING REIN, FIRST RIDDEN, OPEN SHOW PONIES, NURSERY STAKES, OPEN
WORKING HUNTER PONIES, OPEN SHOW HUNTER PONIES AND HERITAGE RIDDEN:-
The highest placed pony that has not qualified for the 2012 Horse of the year show in the appropriate
class will qualify.
If the highest placed pony has already qualified for “The BSPS CHALLENGE” the qualification will
be awarded to the next eligible pony. If after qualifying a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show it
will forfeit it’s qualification for “THE BSPS CHALLENGE”.
The BSPS Heritage Mini Championship open to ponies that have been placed 1st, or 2nd. in classes
157 & 158. The champion will qualify for the BSPS “David Manning” Champion of Champions.
The champion show pony from classes 160-162 will qualify for the BSPS “David Manning”
Champion of Champions.
THE BSPS PREMIER LEAGUE COMPETITION
This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Premier League Competition with the following classes eligible:
Lead Rein, First Ridden, 128cm, 138cm, 148cm Show Ponies and Heritage Ridden. The final to be
held at the BSPS Champion Show. The qualification to be awarded to the 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th placed
ponies.
THE BSPS “BLACK COUNTRY SADDLES” RIDER OF THE YEAR.
The best rider in each of the following open classes at all BSPS Affiliated Shows will be awarded a
Best Rider Card and qualify for the final at the summer Championship Show:
Lead rein, first ridden, 128, 138 & 148 Show pony and Heritage Ridden classes.
TROPHIES
WILLIAM JOHN YOUNG PERPETUAL MEMORIAL CUP, presented by Mrs W J Young for the
owner gaining most points in the Saddle Horse Classes, not to be won outright. To be held for twelve
months.

SISTER JEAN YOUNG’ SILVER MEMORIAL CUP for Best Pony not exceeding 14.2hh, ridden by
a child not exceeding 16 years on 31st December following show. Not to be won outright. To be held
for twelve month.
THE TEMPLE PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP, presented by Miss J Temple, Oxenholme, for Best
animal in the light horses classes. Not to be won outright. To be held for twelve months. For Champions
only of the Ridden and Inhand Classes (including the Champion Horse from Classes 153 - 156.)
THE POLLYANNE MEMORIAL PERPETUAL TROPHY presented by Mr I. Slater will be awarded
to the winner of class 153 Riding Gelding or Mare exceeding 14.2hh but not 15.2hh. Not to be won
outright. To be held for twelve months.
THE EDEN RAMBO TROPHY presented by the Richardson Family will be awarded to the winner
of class 154 Riding Mare or Gelding exceeding 15.2hh. Not to be won outright. To be held for twelve
months.
THE INGLEWOOD TROPHY presented by Mr G Pattinson will be awarded to the winner of class
159 Heritage Mountain & Moorland Open Ridden Mixed Breeds. Not to be won outright. To be held for
twelve months.
BEST TURNED OUT
THE NORMAN ROBINSON PERPETUAL TROPHY

This is to be presented for the Best Turned Out Pony and Rider in Classes 157 - 163. Not to be won
outright. To be held for twelve months. This Class is to be judged throughout the morning for anyone
wishing to enter.
